Who We Are

About Us
The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is a national youth leadership development organization that promotes interest and skill in naval disciplines while instilling strong moral character and life skills through leadership and technical programs modeled after the U.S. Navy's professional development system. Run by a small staff in Arlington, Virginia, we are sponsored by the Navy League of the United States and supported by both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard.

The USNSCC is comprised of two programs.

• The Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC), is our junior program for young people ages 10 through 13.
  • NLCC introduces its members to naval life through instruction in basic seamanship and leadership.
  • NLCC members are able to participate in bi-monthly drill sessions and attend an optional one-week orientation class away from home.
• The Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC), is our full rigor military training program.
  • NSCC members are required to attend a mandatory two-week, away from home (overnight) pre-requisite course at Fort Devens, MA. Affectionately known as "bootcamp" by Cadets, this experience indoctrinates youth into the military lifestyle and starts them off on their journey into our program.
  • After this requirement is met, Cadets are eligible to participate in over 105 different training opportunities of their choosing. These trainings are fully immersive, away from home, and hands-on following a tried and true Navy pattern of Lecture, Demonstration, Supervised Drill, and Practical Performance Testing.​

The Goals of Our Cadet Programs
There are four goals that every Cadet learns during their time in the Program.

1. Develop an interest and ability in naval disciplines.
2. Instill virtues of good citizenship and strong moral principles in each Cadet.
3. Demonstrate the value of living a life of merit.
4. Expose Cadets to a variety of career paths through life skills and leadership training.
