Welcome to Iron Side Division
Our Unit Motto:
Refusing to sink and sailing far
History of the Unit
The Iron Side Division unit was formed on August 1, 2009 and fully commissioned August 17, 2009. The current Commanding Officer is LCDR Angel Uscanga and is one of the founding officers of the unit. The name Iron Side was inspired by the USS Constitution, the oldest Navy ship still in operation, whose nickname is "Old Ironside". Our Cadets are our future leaders and our founding officers wanted to represent the mettle and spirit of the unit's values in it's name. Our Adult Leadership includes former Cadet graduates, veterans of the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army and civilian leaders. |
Our Mission:
"...through organization and cooperation with the Department of the Navy, to encourage and aid American youth to develop, train them in seagoing skills, and to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance and kindred virtues." - NSCC Charter - 36 USC 1541 Since 1958 the Naval Sea Cadet Corps has been committed to providing American youth with a drug and alcohol free environment to foster their leadership abilities, broaden their horizons through hands-on training and guide them to becoming mature young adults. |
